About the archive

A small, self-contained body of work.

PURELIGHT is a personal archive of portrait studies built around a single recurring subject. Everything here is made in-house, at our own cost, and published for the pleasure of looking at well-made light.

How the images are made

Every frame in this archive is generated in-house with image synthesis models, then graded, cropped and compressed by hand. Nothing is scraped, republished, or pulled from another photographer's portfolio — the file you are looking at is the source file.

Because of that, the archive holds no third-party copyright. The trade-off is that the light cannot be entirely trusted: what you are seeing is a study of a particular kind of daylight, not a document of a particular afternoon.

All imagery on this site is synthetic and clearly identifiable as such. The recurring subject is a fictional character, not a real person. Any resemblance to an actual individual is coincidental and unintended.

Editorial standard

Portrait work drifts easily into something cheaper. These are the rules the archive holds itself to, and they do not move:

If a frame does not meet all four, it does not get published — regardless of how good the light was.

Reuse

The images are original to this archive and are not released for reuse, redistribution, dataset training or reposting. If you would like to reference the archive, link to a collection page rather than an image file. Licensing requests can go to the address below.

If you believe a frame here reproduces a protected work, write to us with the URL and the basis of the claim and we will review it promptly.

Advertising

The archive is funded by display advertising served through third-party networks, which may set cookies. No sponsored content is published, and no advertiser has any influence over what appears in the archive. See the privacy note for details.
